Cooper’s Clean up
Cooper’s clean up is Hele Mua’s Adopt-a-block project, where we clean the streets and walk our furry friend at the same time!
We partner with the City and County of Honolulu for their supplies, allowing us to open up this community engagement opportunity free for everyone!
Why we do this
Many of the trash on the streets will eventually end up in the ocean. Rain will carry things down the stream, and trash in the stream will eventually end up in the ocean. Every cigarette butt, bottle cap, and plastic bottle we pick up is one less trash in our oceans!
Additionally, this is a great way to engage with the local community, do a light morning exercise, and learn a little bit about the area!
Meet at Makiki district park!
We will have our Hele Mua tent set up at the parking lot of the Makiki District Park, right next to the skate park and the basketball court.

No, you do not need to bring any clean up supplies! Hele Mua will supply gloves, trash pickers, and trash bags. We suggest you bring hats, water, and sunscreen!

You do not need to bring a dog to participate in Cooper’s Cleanup. Anyone is welcome to sign up, with or without a furry friend!

You can absolutely still help! There are hundreds of cigarette butts, bottle caps, and small pieces of plastic that liters our street that needs to be picked up. We will provide a trash picker so you do not need to bend down either.
